How about some August fun?

After the family left, sadly we had to go on with our lives. We started out with painting the ceramic bank Aunt Liza gave the girls at Silas' birthday party.

I made some oobleck for Vivien. Remember that? It is fun stuff to play with.

Awwwww.... That hat was on for less than 10 seconds. It's the cutest hat, though.

This guy fell asleep while I was making dinner. Cantrell was down for the count too.

If you're gonna do it, do it right.

Vivien is very pleased with the mustang her Grandpa and Grandma Johnson sent her. She named her Molly.

Silas playing with his birthday present from Grandpa and Grandma before Vivien commandeered it for a few hours.

She let me put her hair in pig tails!!!!!! She hasn't let me do that since she was two. Oh, and she's practicing her mad cutting skillz.

Dad caught us intensely watching iCarly.

I love watching them play together.

Silas' First Birthday Party!

This has seriously been the fastest year of my life. I cannot believe Silas is already one. He babbles and babbles and babbles. The pedi says he is very talkative for his age. He says "mama," "dada," "mo," and a bunch of other things that he seems to understand. "Mo" means more, by the way. He is cruising, but not standing on his own or walking. His right foot drags a bit, but the pedi is not worried at all about it. She says he's capable of walking, and will when he's ready. He is very ticklish. He is laid back. He puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. Everything. He is a lot more fearless than Vivien ever was. He's a mama's boy without a doubt. He gives hugs and kisses. If you lay on the floor, he will try to make out with you. He still wakes about 2-3 times per night. He loves to play with Vivien. She covers his head with blankets and it doesn't scare him in the least. He loves his stuffed puppy that Vivien gave him when he was born. It stays in his bed and he wakes up and talks to it every morning. Then he tries to eat its nose.

At his pedi visit, he weighed 21 lbs. 10 oz. (50th percentile), is 30.5 in. tall (80th percentile), and his noggin is in the 75th percentile. He's getting better at eating, although he is now refusing to let us feed him by spoon. He also clears his high chair when he gets done eating. He loves apple cinnamon Teddy Puffs, shredded cheese, turkey, black beans, carrots. He eats yogurt and veggie or fruit purees, but not as enthusiastically. He still only has the same 6 teeth he got at 8.5 months, although, the pedi says his molars look like they are coming in soon.

We did his one year photos with Chera Nall. They are so beautiful.

We had a family birthday party for him. Becky and I made a pasta dish to serve everyone. We had a really wonderful time.

He wasn't quite sure what to think. It took him a while to dig in.

Our beautiful family.

It took me FOREVER to get this picture. He kept turning his head. Come on, humor your mom.

Aunt Gina and her granddaughter, Alayna. They are both so beautiful. Alayna is two weeks younger than Silas.

Jim told us he could do a standing back bend. No one believed him, so he showed us. Weirdo.

The Floridians Come to Town!

My family came to visit from Florida to celebrate Silas' birthday. Becky came on a Friday and stayed through Thursday. My parents brought my niece, Gillian, with them on Tuesday and stayed through Saturday. We had a fantastic time, as always.

Aunt Becky is here!!!

Aunt Becky helped Vivien work on her maze book.

This was cute. She would tickle the backs of his ears and he just cracked up. He is so ticklish!

They don't know I took this video. I was inside, shooting through the window.

Couldn't resist taking this shot.

We took Becky to the new Cowboys Stadium for a tour. She was kind enough to treat us to the tour. Behind her is the largest television screen in the world. Everything's bigger in Texas...

This is in a double suite. A suite is leased for 20 years and costs 2 million dollars. Hey sure.

We ducked out of the tour early. We were bored and didn't want to get caught in rush hour traffic.

On Tuesday, Jim took Vivien to the airport to get the rest of the group. Here are Gillian and Vivien seeing each other for the first time since April. This trip was highly anticipated by both girls.

They immediately came back to the house and played High School Musical.

Then I dressed the girls up in costumes and we got ready to go to dinner at the Magic Time Machine.

I ordered the bubbly brew (or whatever the heck it's called) for the girls. Vivien spit it back out on her plate. Gillian wanted to guzzle it down. Grampy gave it a taste.

Our waiter was Captain Jack Sparrow. He never broke character. I think we had the best character there. The others seemed kind of lame.

They sang a birthday song to Silas. I thought I was recording, but I wasn't. I realized just as they finished the song, so here is the candle blowing part.

First night passed out.

Wednesday was Silas' birthday. To start the day off, we went to the Addison fountains. I'll do a separate entry to chronicle his actual birthday party.
Here is cutie pie, Gillian.

Grampy to the rescue.

The birthday boy is enjoying the fountains too.

There was an incident with Gillian, but Aunt Becky got her calmed down.

I also brought bubbles for the girls to play with.

When we got back, Gillian taught Vivien some drawing techniques while Grammy looked on.

The next morning, I sent them out with the sidewalk chalk paint while Silas and I took a nap.

Jim and Grampy went to get tattoos, so Grammy and I watched So You Think You Can Dance with the girls. They busted some moves.

Vivien is a lot more into partner dancing than Gillian.

On Friday, we went to Arbor Hills park.

Then the girls played in our kiddie pool.

Silas supervised.

All tired out, they chilled out and watched some TV before bed.

Grammy read a bedtime story while they took notes?

Normally, mom and I play Hand and Foot every night when they visit. But this time, we were exhausted every night. We finally played on the last night.

Saturday was time to go. We were taking pics and Vivien got overwhelmed. Grammy comforted her.

And here are the happy grandparents with all of their grandchildren. :)
