Silas' first solid food

I made some brown rice porridge for his first meal. He was very confused by it.

Trying to escape from the wrap.

The kids and Daddy at dinner. Vivien was obviously pleased with her cookie.

I had to document how short this outfit is on Silas. In fact we couldn't button the crotch. Granted, he wears cloth diapers which are bulkier. But this is a 6-12 month outfit. He's not even 6 months until next week...

Playing ball

Too cool for the rest of us.

Silas witnesses a historical event

I am so proud that my children can witness such a poignant time in American history.

Guess who is sitting up?

(I posted twice today, so make sure you look at the next entry too!)

He's about 10 days ahead of when his sister could sit up. I think I'm going to go in the corner and cry. This is happening too fast. :(

Can I marry Silas when I grow up?

Vivien asked me if she could marry Silas when she grows up. She was very sad to hear that she could not. It was precious. Here is another cute moment between them this morning...

Vivien Funnies

Just wanted to share a couple of cute Vivien moments...

Yesterday we were all hanging out on the bed in Silas' room. Vivien was telling her usual knock knock jokes that make no sense. Even if she can't deliver a joke well yet, she is still very quick:

Vivien: Knock knock
Beth: Who's there?
V: Crib (she's looking around at furniture as she's telling her "jokes")
B: Crib who?
V: Crib hib! GET IT?!?!
B: No, I don't get it. What's a hib?
V: It's where you lay the baby down and change their diaper (as she's looking at the changing table).
B: That's called a changing table.
V: Well, that's how you say it in Spanish.

She never missed a beat with that response.

Today, I was watching Desperate Housewives when she got home from ballet. There was a scene on where Carlos is saying to Gabby something along the lines of:
You want normal? Here's a husband who hates his job and a wife that deals with screaming kids all day. You got normal!

Jim and I glanced at each other and chuckled. Just then, Vivien turned around, looked at me, and said, "Just like you, mama."

Enjoy an image of her as you reflect on her silliness...

Vivien's 1st Girls Only Sleepover

My beautiful friend, Kandi, and her precious daughter, J, were looking for some girly company yesterday while their guys were out of town. After talking to Vivien about it extensively, she decided that she would like to stay the night.

I just knew it would be so much fun for her because Kandi is such a super cool mama, and J is an absolute doll. I drove Vivien the 35 minute drive to Kandi's house and dropped her off for a night of fun. She could barely be interrupted to say goodbye to me!

They did things like go on a faerie hunt. Vivien say faerie footprints. She and J could hear faerie whispers. They even set a faerie trap in J's house. They played My Little Pony and did a craft that I sent along for both of them.

They baked strawberry muffins and cookies and made their own pizzas for dinner. Then they took a bath. They passed out on Kandi's bed after making faeries and watching some of Annie. Then Vivien woke up at 5:30 crying softly. J comforted her. But poor Kandi was up with the girls while it was still dark out! What a great friend I have.

In the morning, Kandi took them to a book/toy store and to lunch at the Purple Cow. Vivien had a couple of ugly meltdowns when she got home, but then took a 2.5 hour nap (would have been longer, but I had to wake her for dinner). She was exhausted. She asked me if she could go live with them. Ha ha.

I'm going to share a couple of notes Kandi wrote about what was going on....

-Girls are eating their self made pizza after a faerie hunt. I wish I could have recorded their conversation! OMG so cute!

I am about to put in cookies and watch Barbie Repunzel with them. Haahaa! Fun stuff!

They are twins right now...just to let you know.

-They want me to leave them alone. HAAA.
So they can talk about Barbie.

-Vivien is talking on the phone...
Yes Yes Yes....Yes I know. Yes yes yes. I am working yes.

-V just shaved her arms with Drew's scooby doo "razor" and J is shaving her face. Haha.

-J and V just discussed the heart scar and J wants one too. She said that V is so special and wants one just like her. V said it's ok, she likes her anyway. I got teary eyed. Then they just carried on splashing eachother and laughing. So freaking adorable and innocent and sweet.
