Fetal Echocardiogram

Everything looks good! We were really sweating it out because they were taking forever and whispering back and forth to each other (the cardiologist and the tech). I thought I was going to puke. I was already way off kilter from being up so early without eating because of the storm, and then getting up at my normal time and eating breakfast. I was sweating and so nervous. What was happening is that they couldn't see his aorta. We know it's there because we saw it in the level 2 sono, so it was just a matter of getting him in the right position. About drove me nuts and I really had to pee by the time we were done.

Vivien was pretty unimpressed and was more interested in the snacks she spied in my purse. I thought she was going to be excited to see her brother. Oh well. We tried to point out his head and hands to her. He did like to show his boy bits a lot. The cardiologist even commented about how he was really trying hard to show us his package. She even said, "there's his package". The sono tech, a guy, was mortified.

She said it's up to me on if we come back or not. The defects that Vivien had, of course, can't really be detected in a fetal echo. BUT, we did see at least one pulmonary vein going into the left atrium which means that it is not TAPVR. It could be PAPVR since we couldn't see the other vein, but it's still so early to be able to get a clear pic of it. She said that we could come back when I'm 30-something weeks and see a little better, but if I'm not losing sleep over it we'll just wait until he's born to do another echo. I told her I wasn't worried about it, and she said she wasn't either. So we'll just see her again when he's born!

Next week is the perinatalogist again. So we got a clear echocardiogram, now we want the echogenic bowel gone!

Pretty Quiet Week

It's been pretty quiet here the past week. Vivien has been going to swimming lessons twice a week. The first day she wanted nothing to do with it, which was odd because she had just finished going to Gym & Swim at that same pool a couple of weeks before. Now she really enjoys it. Although she tries really hard not to get her face wet.

She's begun to lie to us a little bit, although she's horrible at it. For instance, she asked me if she could get a certain toy out. I told her she could as soon as she cleaned her other toys from the living room. She said okay and then disappeared for a few minutes. When she came back she asked if she could get the other toy and I asked her if she had cleaned up her other toys. She said yes, and when I stood up she said to me nervously, "but don't go in there." Ha ha. Silly girl.


We are going to see the cardiologist on Thursday for my fetal echo. It's Vivien's cardiologist, so we are going to take her with us so that she can see her brother in the sonogram. She will think that's neat for sure.

High School Musical on Ice

My friend, Jennifer, had a couple of extra tickets to HSM on Ice and invited us to come. Vivien really enjoyed it! We had fantastic seats!

Enjoying a PB&J. I don't know how much longer until she is the age where she demands a $10 hot dog over lunch from home. I'm glad she is still happy with what I bring! I'm also glad that it doesn't occur to her that she wants a $30 pair of HSM blinking sunglasses either. I sure wasn't going to suggest it!

Trip to the Zoo with Mommy Jan

Mommy Jan joined us on a trip to the zoo on Monday. We saw penguins, sting rays, lots of birds, and we rode the monorail. We didn't have time to make it to the children's zoo, so we'll have to do that next time.

Easter 2008

We started by decorating eggs last night. This was Vivien's first time to decorate eggs. She really enjoyed it.

This afternoon, we went to Turtle Creek to see the Pooch Parade.

We got sandwiches at Eatzi's, and this is a dramatization of Jim's reaction when he took his first bite. There was an entire cow on this sandwich.

Jim hasn't met a dog that wasn't his friend.

Some guys were giving out Horton Hears a Who promotional ears.

These guys' hats were great.

Vivien kept kissing my belly and talking to it. She whispered, "When you come out, I'm going to hold you."

These bulldogs were dressed as airplanes. They looked awesome!

This is my friend, Anuschka's dog Clover. She is a boxer puppy and she was all tuckered out from all of the excitement.

I thought this was precious.
